Seahawk runners shine at Addidas Outdoor National Championship

Over Father’s Day weekend, three First Flight Middle School track athletes competed in the Adidas Outdoor Track National Championship. Contending in blistering temperatures with formidable competition, the athletes performed exceptionally on the national stage.

  • On Friday, June 14, Avery Thiessen competed in the middle school girls long jump. Her best jump of 15’9” tied her personal best and school record. Overall, Avery placed 10thin the nation out of 53 jumpers, just missing qualifying for the event finals by one half inch.
  • Saturday June 15, seventh grader Ella-Rae Reese raced in the 400 meters. Her time of one minute 1.47 seconds placed her 25thin the country out of 75 runners.
  • Adlai Berryman set a personal best of 4 minutes 51.15 seconds in the 1600-meter championship. Coming from behind, Adlai worked his way through a loaded field and finished 6thout of 61 runners, receiving a medal for his efforts.
  • On Sunday the 16, Avery Thiessen returned to race in the 200 meters. With a time of 26.90 seconds, she placed 30thout of a field of 80 runners.
  • Adlai Berryman rounded out the weekend for First Flight by placing 14thin the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes 14.66 seconds.

BIDDER PRE-QUALIFICATION REQUEST:

Barnhill Building Group has been selected as the Construction Manager @ Risk by the College of the Albemarle and is seeking to pre-qualify construction trade contractors to submit bids for the furnishing labor, materials, equipment, and tools for the new College of The Albemarle – Allied Health Sciences Simulation Lab (COA Health Sciences) located in Elizabeth City, NC. Please note: Only subcontractors who have been prequalified by Barnhill will be able to submit a Bid.

The project consists of the new construction of a 38,000-sf, 2-story expansion to the existing Owens Health Sciences Center and will house classrooms, labs, and a simulation lab. The site is just over just over 4.5 acres and is located on an active campus. This new construction will be a steel structure with a brick and metal panel veneer, curtainwall, and storefront glazing with a PVC roof membrane.
