Mark your 2026 calendars for your favorite Kitty Hawk Kites events. Save the dates for the Annual Hang Gliding Spectacular, the longest-running hang gliding competition in the world! The Annual Kite Festivals displaying amazing 30 – 100 ft kites on top of Jockey’s Ridge State Park and Wright Brothers Memorial. And save the date for OBX Brewtag, a celebration of flight and beer. The Outer Banks Kite Festival brings some of the nation’s best kite fliers right here to our backyard. Come out and join us for 2 days of kite-flying fun for the whole family. Enjoy massive display kites flying high, and participate in stunt and power kite lessons given by pros.
A regional kite festival brings some of the nation’s best stunt kite pilots right here to our backyard. Come out and join us for two days of kite-flying fun (Fri-Sat) for the whole family. Enjoy massive display kites flying high, including a 100-foot octopus, an 80-foot panda, and a 50-foot fish. And participate in FREE stunt and power kite lessons given by pros. Throughout the event, come watch world-class displays of artistry and skill with kite flying set to music, synchronized performances, and more!
We will be hosting our annual Speedy Sprout Sprint at 11 am on Saturday! Bring your little ones to race and see who can get their kite the highest. The top three sprinters will win a prize from Kitty Hawk Kites!
Enjoy massive show kites flying high above the sand dunes at Jockey’s Ridge State Park, and participate in stunt and power kite lessons given by pros.

Kitty Hawk Kites is partnering with Surfrider Foundation Outer Banks Chapter to host a series of beach cleanups this season.
Participants will meet at the Soundside Rd. public sound access.
Once volunteers have checked in, they will receive gloves and cleanup bags, and will be free to clean up a stretch of beach of their own choosing. All participants will be encouraged to use the Marine Debris Tracker app to log the trash they have picked up.

Founded on the basis of fun and flight, the Outer Banks Brewtag strives to be an event chock full of education, recreation, culture, community, and wholehearted excitement for the whole family.
A celebration of flight and beer!
Our 10th Annual OBX Brewtag contestants will be competing to see who can launch and fly an empty 1/6 keg barrel the furthest.

Admission to the event is FREE for everyone! A rather crafty selection of local and regional beer and food will be available for purchase that day. This family-friendly event will also feature plenty of activities for the kiddos!

Share all your Christmas wishes and have your picture taken with Santa at Kitty Hawk Kites at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing in Nags Head on Friday, November 27th from 10 AM – 2 PM, and Saturday, November 28th from 1 – 4 PM. Have some fun with Santa’s elves and try out classic toys straight from the workshop on the second floor of Kitty Hawk Kites!

Be sure to make it out on Saturday, November 28th from 4 – 7 PM for a light display like no other. Kites with Lights, at Jockey’s Ridge State Park, features large 19-to-30-foot kites decked out in the spirit of the holiday season! At 5 PM, enjoy the lighting of the Jockey’s Ridge State Park Solar Christmas tree out on the dunes directly across from Jockey’s Ridge Crossing. Warm beverages are available across the street at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing. All donations benefit the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge.
