Man arrested by Kitty Hawk Police for multiple felonies, including stealing a dog

A Henderson, N.C. man faces a Sept. 1 hearing in Dare County Court on three felony charges following his arrest by Kitty Hawk Police on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Tyler Alexander Haskins, 34, is charged with First Degree Burglary, Larceny of Dog and Larceny after Break/Enter. He was issued a secured $75,000 bond and according to court records, has posted bond. Here are the details provided by Kitty Hawk Police Public Information Officer, Detective Jason Riger.

On August 18, 2026, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Kitty Hawk Police were dispatched to the 4500 block of Lindbergh Avenue for a domestic violence situation between Haskins and his girlfriend.

The girlfriend was on vacation with her father and Haskins was not invited. Haskins had somehow learned his girlfriend’s location, broke into the home while she was not there, and stole her 10-year-old bulldog and laptop. The girlfriend’s father was asleep in the home when Haskins broke in.

Haskins dumped the laptop at an ATM at the Mariner Inn in Kill Devil Hills and was later found at Grits Grill in Nags Head. Both the laptop and the dog were recovered and returned safely.

Haskins was charged with Felony First Degree Burglary, Felony Larceny of Dog and Felony Larceny after Break and Enter and his bond was set at $75,000.
