Marguerite Harrison Cartwright, age 92, of Washington, NC, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, at Vintage Inn in Williamston. Born on October 10, 1933, in Currituck County, NC, she was the cherished daughter of the late Silas Harrison and Annie Kight Harrison.
Marguerite served with dedication as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service, where she was a respected and valued member of her team. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted attendee of Providence Baptist Church, where she found both solace and community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Garfield “Tim” Cartwright; her son, Dean Cartwright; her sister, Janie Forbes; and her brother, Silas Harrison, Jr.
Marguerite leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her son, Gary Cartwright and his wife, Robin; her daughter, Kim Anglim and her husband, Tom; her cherished grandchildren, Clay Cartwright, Amber Cartwright, Neal Cartwright, Brett Cartwright, Terri Davis, Mistie Evans, Lacie Burns, and Timothy Anglim; as well as multiple great-grandchildren who brought joy to her later years.
A funeral service to honor Marguerite’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Twiford Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Stevens officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the funeral home lobby, offering an opportunity to share memories and condolences. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 113 N. Harvey Street, Washington, NC 27889, or to Providence Baptist Church, 765 Shawboro Road, Shawboro, NC 27973, reflecting Marguerite’s lifelong commitment to her faith and community.
Marguerite will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her gentle spirit that touched all who knew her. Her legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in peace.
