William Larry Crum, known by family as “Putt,” passed away on August 13, 2026. He was born on November 22, 1949, along the Tug River in Kermit, West Virginia. As a young man, he had quite the personality—a bit stubborn, quick-witted, yet deeply caring. He followed the family trade of stone masonry before moving into heavy equipment work. When his mother needed a caretaker, he lovingly stepped into that role.
William was also a talented musician. He traveled with a well-known band, filling in on bass and electric guitar. Later, he shared his musical gifts with local musicians, creating catchy melodies and smooth riffs that brought joy to those around him.
He loved tending to his garden, and his gentle countenance allowed him to connect easily with others in conversation. He did not hold grudges, nor was he one to boast about his accomplishments. Earthly possessions held little importance to him.
Later in life, he met Donna Marie. Donna brought a steady presence and a heart for excellent work that blessed William and continues to bless the community today.
There will be no services.
