Members of Duck Woods Country Club (DWCC) are helping the next generation of golfers, recently providing equipment, apparel, instruction, and travel support to the Manteo High School and First Flight High School girls’ golf teams.

The effort reflects DWCC members’ strong commitment to supporting youth sports and giving back to the Outer Banks community.

For the Manteo High School team, DWCC Ladies’ Golf and Men’s Golf members donated seven push carts, three sets of right-handed clubs with bags, golf balls, and gloves. Members also provided funding for a set of properly fitted left-handed clubs, supplemented by a donated club-fitting session and golf bag from Outer Banks Golf Club. Remaining funds were donated to help cover team travel expenses.

The First Flight High School team received funding for team apparel and a professional golf lesson on the Duck Woods practice range with the Club’s golf professional. Remaining funds were also donated to support the team’s competition travel expenses.

“These young athletes are enthusiastic, dedicated, and deserving of support,” said a DWCC representative. “Our members are proud to help grow the game we all love and to support these young women as they develop their skills and compete.”

The donations are part of DWCC’s broader culture of community involvement. Club organizations regularly support local charities, youth programs, and scholarship initiatives throughout the Outer Banks.

Duck Woods Country Club is the only full-service private country club on the Outer Banks. Its meticulously maintained 18-hole championship golf course, designed by noted architect Ellis Maples, opened in 1969 and has earned recognition from Golf Digest as one of the “Best Places to Play.” The Club is also designated as an Official PGA Family Golf Course by the PGA of America and U.S. Kids Golf.

In addition to golf, Duck Woods offers members and their families a wide range of amenities, including tennis, pickleball, swimming, fitness facilities, and exceptional dining.

Did DWCC push for this donation recognition? And then advertise their membership opportunities? Tacky.
