Willie “Eddie” Bescher, age 81, of Kill Devil Hills, NC, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026. Eddie was born on October 19, 1944, in Asheboro, NC, to J.W. and Margie Bescher.
A longtime resident of the Outer Banks, Eddie worked in the construction industry for many years and later spent many years as a maintenance technician at the Ramada Inn. He loved working with his hands and was a truly talented craftsman and artisan. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix, build, or figure out. If something was broken, Eddie could usually find a way to make it work again.
Eddie was an avid Washington Commanders fan and loved NASCAR and the New York Yankees. He spent much of his free time woodworking, always working on something with his hands.
But more than anything, Eddie was known for his cheerful personality. He was always the funniest person in the room and could always be counted on to make people laugh. He was never without a smile, and he never met a stranger. He had a way of making everyone around him feel like an old friend.
Eddie is survived by his very best friend and longtime companion, Nancy Gray. He is also survived by his siblings, Patty Kearns (Donald) and Ronny Bescher; his children, Barry Bescher (Robin), Kevin Bescher, Misty Gammons (Gary), Ashley Murray, Amanda Wiseman (Jim), Robin Hardee (Rick), and Daniel Gray (Terra); 18 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Margie Bescher, and his brothers, Junior Bescher and Bobby Bescher.
A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held on the Outer Banks of North Carolina at a later date. He will be laid to rest in Randleman, North Carolina. Details regarding both events will be shared at a later time. Please share a message of support and comfort the family at gallopfuneralservices.com.
