Hatteras Seashore adds lifeguard service at Frisco Day Use Area

Cape Hatteras National Seashore will add lifeguard services at the Frisco Day Use Area this Memorial Day weekend. The popular beach, located south of Frisco, will be staffed with lifeguards seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Labor Day.

The Frisco Pier removal project began in December 2017, and removal the Pier House itself, as well as the on-the-beach structures and pilings, took just a couple weeks to complete.

Old Herbert C. Bonner Bridge is coming down, span-by-span

The next step is to remove the caps and pilings., which will create an opening in the old Bonner Bridge at deeper water, away from the shoaling in Oregon Inlet, allowing the barges to move from either side of the bridges to collect material.
