The Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® is holding its annual REALTOR®Fest expo this Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 9:00A-4:00P at the R/C Movie Theatre in Kill Devil Hills.  The event, which is open to the public, features almost 30 vendors, 13 presentations with 20 presenters that cover a wide variety of topics including Google tips and tricks, to security inside and outside of your home, and much more. September Real Estate Statistical Report

For the most part, there was not much of a change between August and September 2021 regarding inventory and sales.  However, year to date, September 2021 saw a 35% increase in all properties sold which equaled a total of 886 more homes sold than this time last year. Full story

State of North Carolina Passes the First Legislation Regulating Timeshare Exit Companies

The great state of North Carolina has become the first state in the nation to pass legislation regulating timeshare exit companies. The groundbreaking timeshare statute stems from the North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) recognizing the need for regulation of companies claiming to “exit” consumers from their timeshare contracts. July Real Estate Statistics

Despite some great numbers in July's statistical report, the OBX is still seeing a slump in certain areas in July which is normal for this time of year.  But Residential Sales were up 65% compared to July 2020 which is a difference of 1,084 more units sold. Full story

June Real Estate Statistics

There are two times during the year when sales tend to get a little sluggish.  One of them is June/July.  Residential sales in several areas actually declined resulting in a lower Median Price.  However, a total of $219 million worth of residential units were sold in June compared to $87 million at the same time last year.  The only time it's been higher was in March of this year.  But this month there were fewer, yet more expensive homes sold. March Real Estate Statistical Report

These two words sum up real estate in the Outer Banks as we head into the busy spring selling season. Because we were looking at a bleak future in March 2020 due to COVID and the shutdown, we knew that the statistics for last month would be drastically different from the year before. And they were! March saw an 86% increase in Total Monthly Sales compared to this time last year equaling a total of 203 MORE homes sold. Under Contract homes jumped 100% with 441 more homes under contract for a total of 883. As of today there are a total of 928 homes under contract. Full story
