Manteo defeats First Flight 16-12 to retain the Marlin Bowl

The Manteo High School and First Flight High School football tradition known as the Marlin Bowl was held on Thursday night, Sept. 21. An approaching tropical storm forced a change in schedule for a game that was originally slated for Friday.  Full story


ESA CROWNS ITS 2023 EASTERNS CHAMPIONS

The Eastern Surfing Association (ESA) held its annual Easterns Surfing Championship event at Jennette’s Pier this week in Nags Head, North Carolina.  The Easterns is the ESA’s largest event bringing its top amateur surfers from Maine through Florida to the Outer Banks to compete in 23 age divisions that include shortboard and longboard. First Flight Women’s tennis team narrowly defeats Manteo

The First Flight High women’s tennis team crossed the Washington Baum bridge to Manteo on Thursday night Sept. 14, where strong wind gusts posed a considerable challenge to both sides. Ball tosses drifted during serves, while ground strokes floated long and fell short depending on which end of the court the players occupied. Full story


Manteo hosts Northeastern NC cross-country meet

Seven different high schools in Northeastern North Carolina met at Manteo High School on Wednesday, Sept. 6 to participate in a cross-country competition.  The sun was bright, the air was thick, and the temperature approached 100 degrees. Full story

Jennette’s Pier, NAGS HEAD (Sunday, September 3, 2023) – Today, Sanoa Demfple-Olin (CAN) and Levi Slawson (USA) emerged victorious at the World Surf League (WSL) WRV Outer Banks Pro presented by Pacifico, a Qualifying Series (QS) 1,000, in ideal, four-to-six foot conditions. Jennette’s Pier provided a pristine platform for Finals Day action with Slawson and Olin both making remarkable comeback wins and earning points toward 2024 Challenger Series qualification. The incredible day of competition wrapped up the East Coast leg in historic fashion with Zoe Benedetto (USA) and Kolohe Andino (USA) accruing runner-up finishes, as well as Sam Reidy (CRC), Cannon Carr (USA), Noah Klapp (DEU), and Lanea Mons (DEU) earning clutch Final appearances.
