Demonstrators gathered in Kitty Hawk at the ‘No Kings’ protest on Saturday, Oct. 18, one of more than 2,500 such events slated across the country. Participants lined both sides of 158, starting from S. Dogwood and moving toward Duck Woods Drive.
Aside from the Kitty Hawk site, another Dare County protest against President Donald Trump was slated for Avon. The event was organized by a coalition that included the Currituck and Dare County Democratic parties, the League of Women Voters of Dare County, the NENC Alliance for Change and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Outer Banks, among others.
Organizers estimate there was a total of between 1,300 and 1,500 participants.
Previous protests that drew crowds in the hundreds took place at Dowdy Park in Nags Head in April and June.

Real shame that the personal violence inflicted on a protester by and subsequent a republican counter protester, and her subsequent arrest, was not covered by OBX voice. It was covered by 2 Norfolk area TV stations, a local media source, and a national news source. A real SHAME, SHAME.

We didn’t protest when the previous administration locked us down forced us to take a jab in the arm? We put up with that foolish nonsense. This president was elected and soundly defeated your candidate who never even had to win a primary, where’s the democracy in that? Splinter, you are really off base and probably conveniently confused. Republicans and conspiracy theorists definitely protested the previous 4 years. Check out the commissioners meetings and board of education meetings here and all over the country. Your arguments are based on warped timelines and facts. (1) This was a democratic county for decades. Not sure when you were born, maybe it has been a republican county your whole life if your Generation Alpha. Marc Basnight was a lifelong Democrat and the board definitely leaned democrat. (2) The current president (orange dude) was in charge from the onset of the pandemic (February/March 2020) until January 2021. He did such a crap job containing and fighting the pandemic that America was overwhelmingly fed up and voted Biden into office. Get your facts straight. In the real world there are no alternative facts or conspiracy theories worth validating.
