The Town of Manteo will conduct a planned water main repair on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 64 near the intersection of Bowsertown Road and Uppowoc Avenue.
Town crews have identified a slow-leaking water main in the area and have scheduled repairs to address the issue before it worsens. Work is scheduled to begin at approximately 6:00 p.m., when crews will mobilize to deploy traffic control devices, including signage and cones, and begin repair operations.
Because the repair site is located close to the intersection of Bowsertown Road and Uppowoc Avenue, motorists should expect temporary traffic disruptions and delays in the area. The Manteo Police Department will assist with traffic control to help ensure the safety of both motorists and work crews.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution, reduce speeds, and follow all posted traffic control measures while traveling through the work zone. Residents and visitors should allow additional travel time if planning to use this section of U.S. 64 during the evening hours.
The Town of Manteo appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as crews work to maintain and improve the community’s water infrastructure.
