The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Cap’n John’s Marine & Nautical Consignment Friday at Surfside Plaza in Nags Head.
Owners John Spear and Susan Wheeler recently moved to the Outer Banks. In their search for an unusual business idea, they discovered similar stores in other coastal areas and felt one like them would work here.
Cap’n John’s offers new and used boating equipment, fishing gear, nautical décor, books, charts, jewelry, books, anything to do with water. Partners interested in selling items on consignment should contact the store.
Outer Banks Chamber Board Chair Robin Mann welcomed them and thanked them for their support of the community and the chamber.
Others attending the celebration included Chamber board members Margaret Wells and Carl Curnutte, along with Chamber ambassadors representing Three Dog Ink, BB&T, Charter Business, TowneBank of Currituck, First South Bank, The Beach Book and EverythingOuterBanks.com. Susan’s parents Dan & Mae Fodor, John’s brother and wife, Joe and Mary Ellen Spears, daughter and son-in-law Lindsay and Matt Hosmer, friends George and Pat Moore and Pirate/Author James Butz also attended in support of this business.
Cap’n John’s is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. , Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call (252) 255-2229.
