Just under 2,500 Dare County residents have filled out Early Voting primary ballots as of 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24. And thus far, the most votes have been cast by unaffiliated voters, according to information from the Dare County Elections Department.
The Early Voting period for the March 3 primary ends on Saturday, Feb. 28. You can find more elections information here Election Information | Dare County, NC
A breakdown of where the 2,498 Early votes have been cast shows 1,316 at Kill Devil Hills Town Hall; 965 at the Dare County Administration Building in Manteo; and 217 at the Fessenden Center Annex in Buxton.
As of 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, the vote tally by party registration included 1,205 unaffiliated voters and from that total, the large majority selected Republican ballots (1,068) as opposed to Democratic ballots (137). Those figures are unsurprising given the number of crowded Republican primaries on the ballot in Dare County.
In addition, 990 registered Republicans have voted at this point, as have 414 registered Democrats. Those numbers also reflect the breakdown of registered voters in the county, with unaffiliateds comprising the largest group at 14,530, Republicans next at 11,411, and Democrats well behind at 6,318.
