These really old case arrests are usually connected with the DNA technology. To think this guy was free for so long.

Fyi, there’s tons of information online about this character and the murder. What the heck was he doing on the Outer Banks?

Wow. 36 years later! He probably came to NC to get as far away as he could from NJ. Just makes me sick. It just blows my mind how people do these things and think it’s okay. And move on like nothing happened.

I wrote “stuck here on purpose” in response to Liz’s question, and the post was removed.

What are OBV’s criteria for removal?

I think the removal policy will help others. Thanks in advance.

Jay, the reason I removed your post is because I did not understand what you were saying. You can try again with a little more explanation. Bob’s response seems to clear it up.

Liz, there used to be a saying around here: “Come here, stuck here.” I think that saying applies in this case.

He’s not the first to use these islands as a hiding place: John McAfee comes to mind. There have been others.

Local media ‘Milepost’ cleverly interpolaterd this saying by changing it to ‘Stuck Here on Purpose.’

Does this site block certain commenters by IP address or email or by any other method? Or is it on a post-by-post basis? What are some reasons a comment would be filtered and how is a user ‘banned’ (if that happens). Thank you in advance.

Bob, I moderate the comments on an individual basis and here are some of the key reasons why they may be deleted.

    1) A comment that is not relevant to the story posted.
    2) A comment that personally insults another commentor or uses profanity. (I do not want the comments page to replicate social media comments that are an exchange of insults between the commentors.)
    3) A comment where I cannot understand the meaning.
    4) A comment that accuses someone of a crime without there having been a conviction and without presenting evidence.
    5) A comment that invokes Adolph Hitler or the Third Reich (yes, we get them.)
    6) A comment that includes something that is recognizably false. (People are entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.)

This guy did some work for a neighbor and actually stayed at thier house while they were away while performing the work. If fact he helped me install window protection before a hurricane about ten years ago. Seemed like a nice guy, you never know.
