After release from prison, the national rate for re-arrest and landing in prison again within two years is between 30-40%. In North Carolina, that rate is right in the middle —around 35-36%. Those figures, though, are not consistent across all counties and jurisdictions. In North Carolina, there are 27 Local Reentry Councils (LRC) serving 43 counties that work on building a support network for someone released after incarceration in order to lower that recidivism rate.
